Bangs

If you are ready for a change of pace, let your old hairstyle go
out with a bang!
Adding bangs can enhance any look whether you need a more modern
edge or conservative
glamour. Let David Barron walk you through the tips he has for
working with long
hair with bangs.
"If you want to jazz your bangs up for the evening, flick it to
one side using
straightening irons for a dose of serious glamour. Or, use the
irons to make your
bangs poker straight and leave the rest of your hair slightly
wavy for an ultra-modern
look," says David Barron.
By comparison, David comments, "Heavy, solid bangs are a nice
contrast to this
season's softer layers. Temple areas can also be cut into the
bangs to create an
overall look of texture and contrast."
After attending several hair shows, David also noticed, "Bangs
this season
will be longer and swept to the side with chunky highlights. The
trend is going
toward two tones of color in the bangs. Rolled bangs were also
all the rage on
the catwalks this season, simply curl under with a barrel brush
when blow-drying."
David Barron recommends, "If you want to try bangs for the first
time I would
recommend you visit your hairdresser. If you've got long hair,
you can see if you'd
look good by putting your hair in a ponytail and holding the
ends over your forehead
to mimic one."
"The key to avoid getting too much lift in your bangs is to stay
away from
round brushes or you will end up with round bangs! Use a flat
brush, such as a
Denman, to achieve a much more up-to-date bang," remarks David
Barron.
"If you have a bang cut into your style but decide to have a
change then you
could style it into a quiff to produce a very glam,
sophisticated look, or you could
make it more funky by giving it a rougher texture."
David Barron cautions, "If you have a round face or wear
glasses, steer clear
of big bangs which will make the face even shorter - try a
light, wispy bang. If
you have a long face, then a big bang is for you."
"Have your bangs chopped into to make the edges much finer so it
lasts longer.
This takes away the weight in the edges and makes it easier to
sweep across, "
David says.
Addiionally, "When you initially decide to have bangs, I would
recommend starting
with one that sweeps to the side, then do it in stages. Never
cut your own bangs.
Leave it to the professionals, otherwise you're likely to end up
with an uneven
finish. When it comes to styling bangs, less is more. Don't blow
dry too much the less you do the better it will look," finishes David
Barron.
There are bangs to suit everyone, from bold blunt cuts to sexy
side-sweeping bangs
to eyebrow skimming, the choice is endless! Always consider your
hair type when
choosing a bang and the amount of time you are willing to commit
to styling.
