Long Hair Styles

Of all the hair lengths, long hair is by far the most versatile. Whether your long hair is layered, straight or naturally wavy, there is a unique style for your long hair that is undeniably "you." We have asked the stylists at Barron's London Salon to give a few tips for great long hair styles.

Texture looks great on long hair because you have so many styling options available. Try to create as much texture as possible for your long hair by using layers and coloring techniques to avoid using too much product.

Styling your long textured hair to one side is a great wearable alternative. Add curls to the bottom half of your long hair, leaving the top straight and smooth for a great contrast.

After curling your long hair, dab wax on your fingertips and roughly shake through the curls for a distressed effect.

Brush your long hair forward and allow it to fall naturally.

Short layers on top of your long hair create funky spikes - backcomb side panels for some adventurous effects.

Curl your hair with heated tongs to create spirals and drag your fingertips through to loosen.

Long hair with a single layer works best for anyone who has thick, straight and heavy strands. The top layer of hair, knotted to add height gives it a fun, daring personality. Shortening the top layer and adding layers around the face can also help to achieve this look while giving it more interest around the face. Hair worn half up can look very pretty and is a style favored by celebrities.

Take hair back from the ears and secure below the crown with grips or a band, then scrunch the lengths a little for boho texture. If you want long hair without the hassle of growing it, it's worth considering extensions. They can be pricey but will transform your look in a matter of hours.

Regular trims will keep the ends of long hair looking neat. Between salon visits, smother mid-lengths and ends of long hair with intensive conditioner once or twice a week and
use serum to create a smooth appearance.
